Mark Zuckerberg showcased his smoked meat exploits and professed his admiration for hunters during a Facebook live video over the weekend.
While waiting for friends to arrive for a pre-debate BBQ, Zuckerberg used the social network’s hottest new feature and live streamed a chat in his backyard. The Zuckster was smoking a biscuit and ribs at the time, which billowed in the background as he addressed thousands of live viewers. Since the live stream on Sunday the video has been viewed 8.5 million times.

“The key is you cook it for a long period of time,” Zuckerberg said wearing a purple t-shirt, uncustomary to his grey weekday attire. “You want to break down all the collagen within the meaat fibers so you want to keep it in there a long time and it’s just delicious when it’s done.”
Later he talked about hunting, saying he took up the sport 4-to-5 years ago, but doesn’t do it much because he’s so busy. It was unclear exactly what type of hunting he most enjoys, but it sounds like he doesn’t mind slinging a rifle.
“Half of the joy is that things taste better when you make them yourself,” he said. “And they taste doubly better when you hunt the animal yourself, whether you’re fishing for salmon or hunting for a boar. That’s a big part of it. You feel more connected to what you’re eating.”

Regarding hunting, he said it is an admirable pasttime. One can’t help but imagine his comments were meant in part to quell what has become a highly toxic environment toward hunters on social media as evidenced by several recent stories.
“[Hunting] is a good waay to feel connected to nature. If you’re going to eat meat you should be a part of, you should get to know where it comes from. Tha’ts a pretty good experience. Started 4-5 years ago. Don’t do it too often. But it’s pretty fun.
