A kayaker experienced the rude Florida waters recently when a great white shark appeared to attack the paddler in the surf.
The video posted to Youtube shows the shark breaking the surface twice where the paddle was touching the water at Matanzas Inlet, Florida south of Jacksonville.
The shark’s behavior likely has to do with the its reaction to surface disturbances, triggering an instinct it normally uses to attack prey. The kayaker, meanwhile, interpreting an attack paddles quickly to shore. Lucky for him he doesn’t spill in the shore pound.
