As outdoor retailers flock to Salt Lake City for the largest outdoor industry trade show in the world, convention organizers are promoting made-in-America products and a give-back program for kids.
More than 90 brands so far have signed up to participate in the Outdoor Retailer and Outdoor Foundation’s Give Back Badge Program. The charity is simple. For a $15 donation, outdoor companies and individuals can provide an outdoor experience to a young child.
Funds are donated through the Parks4Kids program and hopes to provide outdoor excursions for up to 35,000 children.
“There is nothing more important to the future of the outdoor industry and the health of our outdoor places than inspiring a new generation of outdoor enthusiasts and stewards,” said Chris Fanning, executive director of Outdoor Foundation, based on a press release.
Also during the four-day event, the conference will feature a Made In America Product Showcase and help promote foreign delegations through an international buyer’s program.
Exhibitors at this year’s show will have the opportunity to participate in three programs presented through the US Commercial Service of the Department of Commerce as a way to encourage international buyers of American made goods.
Programs include the an export industry directory, business matchmaking and a chance to meet with global US Embassy and consulate industry specialists.
“The showcase highlights brands who are working to manufacturer their products in the U.S,” said Alex Boian, Senior Director of Government Affairs for OIA, based on a press release. “The OIA and Outdoor Retailer Made In America Product Showcase provides outdoor companies an opportunity to highlight the investments they have made in American manufacturing and commitment to growing American jobs and the economy”
