Watch This Paraglider Fly Through the Northern Lights in Norway

The Northern Lights are one of the most spectacular sights on the planet, but to add a paraglider soaring through the magical undulations of starlight is altogether extraordinary.

Renowned paraglider Horacio Llorens jumped at the chance to chase the Aurora Borealis in Norway recently to capture this amazing footage by Red Bull.

Llorens waited in -15 degree Celsius weather in cold, windy and damp conditions for the aurora to make an appearance before finally making the majestic flight.

“I’ve found out that flying at night is difficult, especially this far north and during the winter,” he told Red Bull. “Tromsø was different from everything I’m used to. It was cold and dark, the wind was strong, and I was surrounded by water. So every decision was important.”

To prepare the conditions, the Spanish acro pilot equipped his glider with a 200cc moto capable of climbing easily and getting him out of trouble. He also wore a wet suit in case he crash landed into the frigid waters.

The result is purely incredible.

“It felt fantastic [when it finally worked out]. I’m very fortunate to have had this opportunity and to have this as a job. I will definitely come back to Tromsø, but the next time will be during the summer!”
