Gun TV to Sell Guns On Live Television

A plan to sell guns on live television is really happening. A California company has announced it will launch a home shopping channel for guns, gun accessories, and gun-related outdoor gear.

Gun TV will begin selling on-air early next year. It had been planned to roll out near Thanksgiving but has been postponed, according to reports.

“We saw an opportunity in filling a need, not creating one,” co-founder Valerie Castle told The Guardian. “The vast majority of people who own and use guns in this country, whether it’s home protection, recreation or hunting, are responsible.”

Much like the popular QVC and Home Shopping Network, gun shoppers can sit at home, enjoying a carousel of presentations from former cops, Olympic athletes, and firearms experts. Learn about the latest in caseless ammo, or finally place an order for that bull pup British assault rifle.

Castle and her husband, Doug Bornstein are home shopping industry veterans. Of course, selling guns is a lot different than selling bracelets or Elvis butter dishes.

Because of federal and even state regulation on gun sales, no customers will be able to have a gun shipped straight to their home.

Instead, the purchased firearm will be shipped to a nearby licensed firearms dealer, where a background check will be conducted before the firearm can be transferred.

Of course, with the abundance of guns already on the market, some people don’t think selling guns over the airwaves is a good idea. Law Center to Prevent Gun Violence senior staff attorney Laura Cutilletta told The Guardian she is against it.

“So many people are killed by guns every day in the US; we need to think long and hard about this,” she said. “My gut reaction is that it’s the last thing we need.”

Gun TV plans to air between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. seven days a week, with hopes to operate on a 24-hour basis. For more information visit GunTV.tv,
