An ongoing campaign supported by the International Snowmobiling Association continues through March, as clubs are encouraged to organize rides for newcomers to their sport. The campaign is aptly named Take a Friend Snowmobiling.
The idea is to have snowmobiling associations and clubs work with local Visitor and Convention Bureaus and other interested parties to hold demonstration snowmobile rides now through the end of March. Events are meant to develop and expand relationships with visitor centers, the media, and related snowmobile businesses such as dealers, gas stations, and resort areas.
Research has shown that many adults not yet participating in the sport are curious about it and would like to give it a try, with more than 80% of current non-participants rating snowmobiling as a fun winter experience. Often, an invitation to experience snowmobiling results in expanding the snowmobile community. People who are given the opportunity to ride will frequently join clubs, purchase new or used sleds, and become enthusiastic participants in this family-friendly sport.
As winter nears a close in some areas of the country, all clubs are urged to support their local organizations by hosting or participating in Take a Friend Snowmobiling events. New members brought in through these efforts help each individual club grow and prosper, and it’s simply a lot of fun to introduce new people to the sport.
